Details About the Starlink Holiday Subscriber Growth Push

The Starlink holiday subscriber growth push is SpaceX’s plan to have more Starlink kits on store shelves before the 2026 holidays. On its October 20 earnings call, the company said it prioritized retail deliveries ahead of the season and expects more activations in the fourth quarter, after finishing September with 13.6 million consumer subscribers.

For anyone shopping this season, that adds up to two things. More kits are headed to the big retailers through December, and a lot of households will be setting Starlink up at the same moment, from family gifts to holiday cabins and RV trips south. Our insured technicians book up as those kits arrive, so the sooner yours is on site, the sooner the dish goes up and the house is online before company comes. Share a few photos of your roofline when you order, and our experienced team can map out the dish spot and cable path in advance, so install day moves quickly and the Wi-Fi reaches every room your guests will use.

Got a kit on a holiday deal or found one under the tree? We turn the box into a permanent setup: the dish fastened where it sees the most northern sky, the cable sealed where it comes indoors, the router placed where the household actually gathers, and a speed test on your own phone before we pack up. Rates for homes, businesses, vehicles and boats are posted with our Starlink install pricing.

Starlink Subscribers in 2026: From 12 Million to 13.6 Million

By the end of September 2026, Starlink had 13.6 million consumer subscribers, roughly 1.6 million more than at the end of June, according to Broadband Breakfast’s report on the third-quarter results. That count covers personal plans such as Residential and Roam along with business lines, and the service now reaches 174 countries and markets from roughly 11,100 satellites in orbit. Connectivity revenue, which also includes enterprise and government work, climbed 69% from a year earlier to $5.2 billion.

Quarter endedStarlink consumer subscribersChange
June 30, 202612.0 millionSecond-quarter report
September 30, 202613.6 millionAbout 1.6 million added in the quarter

The holidays have moved the number before. Broadband Breakfast reported that Starlink signed up 1 million new customers in under 50 days at the end of 2025. Average revenue per subscriber also rose to $69 a month in the third quarter, up from $66 in the second.

What SpaceX Said About the Holiday Season

On the call, chief financial officer Bret Johnsen described the plan in one sentence: “We strategically managed our channel distribution to prioritize delivery of kits to retail channels ahead of the holiday season, which we expect will lead to increased activations in Q4,” as PCMag’s coverage of the call recorded it. He added that production of the new V5 kit began ramping during the quarter, which helped ease inventory constraints.

What SpaceX has not published, as of October 22, is a holiday price list. There is no official Black Friday or Cyber Monday offer for 2026 so far. The confirmed part is the groundwork: more retail stock, a smaller and lighter home dish coming off the line, and the plans and hardware terms on Starlink’s order page, which already apply today.

Starlink Holiday Deals: Confirmed Prices and What to Watch

Here is where pricing stands, separated into what is confirmed and what is still to come.

ItemStatusDetail
Residential plans (US)Confirmed since June 2026Residential 100 Mbps at $55 a month, 200 Mbps at $85 and Residential Max at $130, per June 2026 price coverage
Home kitConfirmed, varies by addressFree with a 12-month commitment in select areas; elsewhere offered as a rental or a purchase, shown on the order page
First-generation MiniReported October 21, 2026$149 on Starlink’s own site, per PCMag
Black Friday 2026 retail pricesNot announced yetLast year Home Depot’s early sale listed the Standard kit at $279 and the Mini at $229 (SlashGear, November 2025)
Area plan discountsRan earlier in 2026Time-limited offers for new customers in select areas, such as discounted 100 Mbps service in March (Broadband Breakfast, March 2026)
Referral reward (US)Reported October 2026$100 each to the existing customer and the new one after two billing cycles (Teslanorth, October 2026)

Offers this year have been regional and time-limited, so the practical move is to check your own address when a deal appears, order while the kit is in stock, and put the install on the calendar the same day.

Where to Buy a Starlink Kit for the Holidays

Starlink keeps a list of authorized retailers. In the US it names Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot, Walmart’s Starlink Store, Sam’s Club, Tractor Supply, Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, West Marine and Boost Mobile, among others. Buy from one of those or from Starlink directly so the kit is ready to switch on the day it arrives; at Walmart, that means the Starlink Store rather than a third-party seller.

A Starlink gift works a little differently from most electronics. The person receiving the kit activates it under their own Starlink account and picks the plan, and the order page lists what is available at their address. Tuck a note in the box that the install is already booked, and the gift is online the day the dish goes up.

A Holiday Starlink Buying Checklist

Six steps cover most holiday purchases, whether the kit is for your own house or someone else’s.

  • Check the address. Plans, kit terms and live promotions differ by location, and Starlink’s checkout lists all three once the address is in.
  • Pick the plan. Starlink aims the 100 Mbps tier at homes of one to three people; 200 Mbps or Max fit busier households, gamers and frequent video callers.
  • Match the kit. A V5 or Standard dish for the house, a Mini for travel and small boats.
  • Buy through an official channel. Starlink or an authorized retailer, so the hardware activates without a hitch.
  • Book the install. Pick a date as soon as the kit ships; our technicians bring the mount, cable hardware and sealant the roof or wall calls for.
  • Keep it powered. Plug the Starlink power supply into an uninterruptible power supply, and a flicker on the grid no longer drops the connection.

Standard, V5 or Mini: Matching the Kit to the Home

The V5 is the newest home dish. Engadget’s V5 report put it at 2.4 pounds against 6.5 for the V4 Standard, with a power draw of 35 to 50 watts instead of 75 to 100, and a 375+ Mbps rating. It launched in select US areas on the Residential 100 Mbps plan with the Router Mini, while the 200 Mbps and Max plans stay on the Standard kit for now, and the V5 is built to stay put at the home address.

The Mini is the travel kit, sized for road trips, campsites and small boats on a Roam plan. In select countries, customers with an active Residential plan can also be offered a Mini Kit for Travel at no monthly hardware cost, with discounted Roam service that runs alongside the home plan. Our comparison of Mini and Standard dishes covers which one suits which household.

Book Your Starlink Install Before the Holiday Rush

Every kit that ships this season still needs a solid place on the house. Our home Starlink setup work covers the pivot mount on shingles, the standard wall mount at a gable, the under-eave arm where there is no fascia to fix to, and a weighted frame wherever nothing should be drilled, with the cable sealed at a single entry. If the gift is meant for a barn office or a guest cottage, we carry the signal across a point-to-point bridge instead of a trench, the same way we bring wifi to a pole barn or a detached shop.

The season moves on wheels and water too. Snowbirds can book motorhome Starlink installation before the trip south, Jeep and pickup owners can add a Jeep Starlink mount on factory rails or a rack, and boat owners can get a yacht Starlink mount set clear of the radar before winter cruising. Small businesses often want a failover line in before year-end, which our Starlink for small office installs cover, and service companies outfitting trucks can standardize on Starlink for business vehicles.

More Capacity Coming With V3 Satellites

Capacity is growing alongside the subscriber count. SpaceX has started launching its larger V3 Starlink satellites on Starship, and Broadband Breakfast reported that each of those launches is expected to carry more than 20 times the downlink capacity of a current Falcon 9 Starlink launch. The company said on the call that V3 satellites will deploy in meaningful numbers through late 2026 and 2027.

For a household deciding on a holiday purchase, there is nothing to wait for. The order page shows the plans for your address today, and the new capacity arrives on top of the service you already have.

Starlink Holiday Subscriber Growth Push: Questions Buyers Ask

It is SpaceX’s plan to stock retailers with Starlink kits before the 2026 holidays and lift activations in the fourth quarter, which its chief financial officer described on the October 20 earnings call after the company reported 13.6 million consumer subscribers.

13.6 million at the close of September 2026, by SpaceX’s count. The company signed up about 1.6 million in the third quarter after ending June at 12.0 million.

Watch the authorized stores in late November: SpaceX says it is sending more kits to retailers this season, and last year Home Depot’s early Black Friday sale had the Standard kit at $279 and the Mini at $229. Official 2026 prices haven’t been posted yet.

Yes in some regions when you agree to 12 months of service, and other locations can rent the hardware or buy it outright; the order page lists your terms as soon as it has your street address.

The V5 is Starlink’s newest home dish, launched in July 2026. It weighs 2.4 pounds, draws 35 to 50 watts and ships with the Router Mini, and it is sold in select US areas with the Residential 100 Mbps plan.

Starlink sells kits itself and through authorized stores, Best Buy, Home Depot and Amazon among them. Buying from one of those authorized sellers keeps activation simple once the box arrives.

Yes. Buy the kit from Starlink or an authorized retailer, and the recipient activates it under their own account and picks a plan for their address. Our technicians can install it as soon as it arrives.

PCMag reported on October 21, 2026 that Starlink’s site listed the first-generation Mini at $149. Store prices can differ, so compare Starlink’s listing with the authorized retailers before you buy.

US Residential service runs $55 a month on the 100 Mbps tier, $85 on 200 Mbps and $130 on Residential Max, the prices set in June 2026, and data at the home address is unlimited.

Deals come in waves. Starlink ran area-specific plan discounts for new customers during 2026, and retailers cut kit prices in last year’s holiday sales, so any offer for your address shows up on the order page when it runs.

Yes. Our insured technicians mount the dish to structure, seal the cable entry, set up Wi-Fi where you use it and run a speed test, so book as soon as the kit ships and the install takes the first open date.

Had a Starlink mini installed. Tech got right to it and got cables run through the crawl space and into my “Comms closet” in my garage. Tech was familiar with the Hardy siding on the house and was able to get the mini mounted with no issues. Antenna was aligned and tested and working in short order. Whole heartedly recommend Nationwide Installation Techs. Install was done in Coupeville, WA.

I had my Starlink installed at my home this past June, and it’s been working well. It was really easy working with these guys — from appointment setup to install. I’d highly recommend them to anyone who’s wanting a professional Starlink install.

Although the tech had some problems the first time he came out, he and his team stuck with me until a successful solution was found. Professionally done, honest, the second trip did the job. The Starlink AI agent was singularly unhelpful; but Nationwide Installation Techs LLC filled the gap with real humans who understood the problem and got the correct equipment and installed it properly. Now I have great TV and WiFi service in a remote part of the Colorado mountains.

From first contact with Grant at their Tx call center to a rapid installation date was a great experience! Grant never pressed, in fact, we landed up talking about other things we had in common. The local installer was prompt and friendly and handled a difficult job with a great can do attitude! In an era of hurry up to make a decision then wait in line, this whole process was exceptional! Coming from me who spent 30 years in sales and marketing can be hard to impress…this whole process from start to finish was very impressive!

Game-Changer for Rural Internet! Living in a rural area, reliable high-speed internet has always been a challenge. We don’t have fiber, and while we have Spectrum cable, it’s pricey and inconsistent. For four years, I relied on a Verizon home setup with a mesh system, which was just okay—until that equipment failed and I had to upgrade to their newer version. It was an absolute disaster. Nothing worked consistently: my Ring doorbells wouldn't connect, and our TVs constantly buffered. Desperate for a real solution, a friend recommended Starlink, and I decided to go all-in on their top-tier plan. With a large, three-story, 5,000-square-foot home and an unobstructed view of the sky, I was blown away from day one. Remarkably, Starlink’s router alone provided coverage across the entire house before I even added a mesh system. Though I went ahead and installed a new mesh setup for maximum strength in every single corner, the baseline performance on day one was already incredible. Even better? It was installed on a wall mount attached to our gable, which was quick and easy. We hit one minor snag initially when the contracted installers wouldn't climb the roof, but Starlink's support team stepped in immediately. I honestly have to say: that was the best customer service I have ever experienced in my 59 years of living. They resolved the issue seamlessly and went above and beyond. I was also deeply concerned about how satellite internet would handle bad weather. Literally the night it was installed, it was storming and raining heavily—yet every device stayed connected without a single glitch. We’ve had a few severe storms since, and I haven't experienced a single drop in service. If you have an unobstructed view of the sky and are tired of unreliable options, I cannot recommend Starlink enough. It is an absolute game-changer!
